SAP Business One vs NetSuite vs Dynamics 365 Business Central: which fits you?
If your ERP shortlist ended up as SAP Business One, NetSuite and Business Central, you're in good company: they're three of the options midsize companies evaluate most. The difference lies in details the demos don't show.

On paper the three ERP systems solve the same things: finance, purchasing, inventory, sales and reporting on a single platform. That's why the demos look so alike, and why the choice often ends up being decided by rapport with the salesperson.
A disclosure before we continue: Cyrrus doesn't resell licenses or take commissions from any vendor. That's why we can compare without preferences.
What is the main difference between SAP Business One, NetSuite and Business Central?
The main difference lies in the deployment model and the ecosystem. NetSuite runs only in Oracle's cloud. Business Central can run in Microsoft's cloud or on your own servers and integrates naturally with Microsoft 365. SAP Business One can be deployed in the cloud or on your own servers, on SAP HANA or Microsoft SQL Server, and is bought, implemented and supported through SAP partners.
| Criterion | SAP Business One | Oracle NetSuite | Dynamics 365 Business Central |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deployment | Cloud or own servers | Cloud only | Cloud or own servers |
| Database | SAP HANA or Microsoft SQL Server | Managed by Oracle | Managed by Microsoft in the cloud; SQL Server on-premises |
| Published price | No; quoted through a partner | No; quoted annual license | Yes: US$80 (Essentials) and US$110 (Premium) per user/month |
| How it's bought | SAP partners | Oracle NetSuite or partners | Microsoft partners |
| Best fit | Distribution and light manufacturing with standard processes | Growing, multi-entity companies that want no infrastructure | Companies already working with Microsoft 365 |
Prices quoted are list prices in US dollars published by each vendor, checked in October 2026. They change often and can vary by country, currency and negotiation.
Choosing an ERP?
We run the selection with criteria defined before looking at vendors and with no vendor commissions, all the way to contract signature.
- Requirements and a weighted evaluation matrix
- Guided demos built on your real cases

When does SAP Business One make sense?
It makes sense when the company wants an ERP from a widely present brand, with fairly standard distribution or light manufacturing processes, and when there's an SAP partner in your country with proven experience in your industry. SAP positions it for small and midsize businesses; if the company grows into several entities and countries, the natural path within SAP is S/4HANA.
When does NetSuite make sense?
It makes sense when the company wants to avoid infrastructure and upgrades entirely, is growing fast or runs several entities. Its annual license model —platform, modules and users— lets you switch modules on as you need them, but it's worth reviewing carefully how the cost grows with each additional module and user.
When does Business Central make sense?
It makes sense when the company already lives in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel) and wants an ERP that feels part of those tools, or when it needs the option to install it on its own servers. Because it publishes prices, it also makes license costs easier to estimate from the start.
Choosing well is half the journey
After the selection we manage the implementation as an external PMO and work on adoption from day one.
- Project management accountable for the result
- Built-in change management

How do you decide among the three?
With written requirements, the same evaluation matrix for all three, and a guided demo built on your own cases. Also ask each implementation partner for references from clients of your industry and size in your country: in this segment, the implementer's quality weighs as much as the software.
