How much does it cost to implement an ERP: ranges and what drives them
If you're asking how much an ERP costs, you've probably heard answers ranging from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Both can be true: the cost depends on decisions worth understanding before you request proposals.

There's no single price for an ERP because no two implementations are the same. The same system can cost very differently at a distributor with 15 users than at a manufacturer with three plants and 120 users.
A disclosure before we continue: Cyrrus doesn't resell licenses or take commissions from any vendor. That's why we can compare without preferences.
What drives the cost of an ERP?
It depends mainly on the number of users, the modules needed, the deployment model (cloud or own servers), how much customization and integration is required, the volume of data to migrate, and training and support. Oracle NetSuite itself lists thirteen factors, from the license model and deployment type to industry, integrations and third-party add-ons.
The four blocks of total cost
Licenses or subscription. In the cloud you pay a monthly or annual fee that usually includes hosting and updates; with a perpetual license you pay more up front and then annual maintenance.
Implementation. Process analysis, configuration, customization, integrations, data migration, testing and training. It's done by the vendor or an implementation partner; NetSuite, for example, charges it as a one-time fee on top of the license.
Infrastructure and support. Servers, databases and backups if the system is installed in-house; support, upgrades and add-ons in any case.
Internal team time. It's the cost almost no one budgets: key people from each area spend weeks defining processes, validating configurations and testing.

What prices do vendors publish?
Few vendors publish prices. This is what they show today on their official sites:
| ERP | Published price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dynamics 365 Business Central | US$80/user/month (Essentials); US$110 (Premium); US$8 (Team Members) | Annual billing; bought through a Microsoft partner |
| Odoo | US$7.95/user/month (Standard); US$13.40 (Custom) | Annual billing; one app free with unlimited users |
| Oracle NetSuite | Not published | Annual license: platform + modules + users, plus a one-time implementation fee |
| SAP Business One | Not published | Quoted through an SAP partner |
| Acumatica | Not published | By applications and consumption; unlimited users |
Prices quoted are list prices in US dollars published by each vendor, checked in October 2026. They change often and can vary by country, currency and negotiation.
A sample license calculation
For a company with 25 full users, licenses only and at published prices: Business Central Essentials would cost 25 × US$80 × 12 = US$24,000 a year; Business Central Premium, US$33,000; Odoo Custom, 25 × US$13.40 × 12 = US$4,020 a year. That's the license alone: it excludes implementation, integrations, migration, support and internal team time, which weigh more in most projects.
Choosing well is half the journey
After the selection we manage the implementation as an external PMO and work on adoption from day one.
- Project management accountable for the result
- Built-in change management

The hidden costs that most often break the budget
Over-customizing. Every change to the standard makes implementation more expensive and upgrades harder; NetSuite itself warns that customizations can increase costs, cause bugs and complicate upgrades and maintenance.
Underestimating data migration. Cleaning and de-duplicating customer, product and supplier masters takes longer than expected.
Forgetting integrations with e-invoicing, banks, e-commerce or plant systems.
Not planning adoption. A system people don't use doesn't pay back. Prosci's research shows that projects with excellent change management are about seven times more likely to meet their objectives.
How do you request comparable proposals?
With the same requirements document for every vendor, the same scope (modules, users, integrations, migration) and an explicit request to break down licenses, implementation, support and assumptions. Then compare the five-year total cost, not just year one. In our methodology, that selection phase usually takes 6 to 12 weeks.
How we can help
At Cyrrus we build the business case and the total cost of each alternative before you sign. Our ERP selection is independent and takes no vendor commissions, so the figure we give you isn't inflated or dressed up.
If you have ERP proposals on the table and don't know whether the price is reasonable, schedule a conversation with our team.
